Wo­man shot mul­ti­ple times out­side Franklin Square

The Bal­ti­more County Po­lice Vi­o­lent Crimes Unit are in­ves­ti­gat­ing a shoot­ing that oc­curred out­side of MedS­tar Franklin Square Med­i­cal Cen­ter Tues­day evening, May 17, said the Bal­ti­more County Po­lice Depart­ment.

County po­lice re­ceived a call for a shoot­ing across the street from the bus stop in the 9000 block of Franklin Square Drive, po­lice said. When of­fi­cers ar­rived, they found an adult wo­man suf­fer­ing from mul­ti­ple gun­shot wounds to the up­per body.

The wo­man was trans­ported to a lo­cal hos­pi­tal for treat­ment. Her cur­rent con­di­tion is un­known at this time, po­lice said.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice, the vic­tim’s name is cur­rently be­ing with­held in or­der to pro­tect her safety. Po­lice learned that MedS­tar Franklin Square was placed on a “lock-down” for about one hour for pre­cau­tion­ary mea­sures.

De­tec­tives iden­ti­fied the sus­pect as the vic­tim’s ex-boyfriend, Er­win J. Acree, 29, of the 400 block of South Chapel Gate Lane in Bal­ti­more, po­lice said. When po­lice went to a lo­ca­tion in the Unit block of North Wood­ing­ton in Bal­ti­more City, Acree re­fused to come out re­sult­ing in a bar­ri­cade sit­u­a­tion.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice, Acree later shot him­self and was trans­ported to an area hos­pi­tal for treat­ment.

Acree died Wed­nes­day, May 18, at the R Adams Cow­ley Shock Trauma Cen­ter of in­juries sus­tained when he shot him­self, po­lice said.

The in­ci­dent re­mains un­der in­ves­ti­ga­tion by the Bal­ti­more County Po­lice Vi­o­lent Crimes Unit.
