Woman shot multiple times outside Franklin Square
The Baltimore County Police Violent Crimes Unit are investigating a shooting that occurred outside of MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center Tuesday evening, May 17, said the Baltimore County Police Department.
County police received a call for a shooting across the street from the bus stop in the 9000 block of Franklin Square Drive, police said. When officers arrived, they found an adult woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body.
The woman was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Her current condition is unknown at this time, police said.
According to police, the victim’s name is currently being withheld in order to protect her safety. Police learned that MedStar Franklin Square was placed on a “lock-down” for about one hour for precautionary measures.
Detectives identified the suspect as the victim’s ex-boyfriend, Erwin J. Acree, 29, of the 400 block of South Chapel Gate Lane in Baltimore, police said. When police went to a location in the Unit block of North Woodington in Baltimore City, Acree refused to come out resulting in a barricade situation.
According to police, Acree later shot himself and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Acree died Wednesday, May 18, at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center of injuries sustained when he shot himself, police said.
The incident remains under investigation by the Baltimore County Police Violent Crimes Unit.
