Essex Day scheduled for Sept. 17
Everybody mark your calendars, it’s almost that time again! The 42nd Annual Essex Day, the yearly street festival and celebration of our own little piece of east
Baltimore County, will once again take over the 400-500 blocks of Eastern Ave. on Sunday, September 17 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m..
“It’s a really great day for Essex and a staple of the community and we want to see as many people involved as possible,” said Angel Ball, the sponsorship chair of the Essex Day Festival Association.
She excitedly describes a day jam-packed with activi-
ties and entertainment. Several live bands and a kiddie karaoke contest (with a cash prize!) will be spread out along three stages. There will also be a kid’s zone with arts and crafts, free tours of the Heritage Society of Essex-Middle River Museum, costumed characters, and
dozens of food and novelty vendors.
Started in 1975 to raise money for Ballestone-Stansbury House, Essex Day has always only been possible through the hard work and generosity of volunteers and community members, Ball said. The association is
open for volunteers to help make the event a success. If interested, contact Ball at 443-676-6929.
Sponsorship positions and vendor spots for local businesses and non-profits are also available. Sponsors will be mentioned on stage and during the event’s opening
ceremonies. Sponsorship requests are due by September 11. For more information, call 443-579-4913 and leave a message with your name/business name, phone number and email address and an Essex Day representative will get back to you.
At Essex Day 2016, everybody was all smiles.
