Boscov’s White Marsh host­ing back to school fair on August 26

In less than two weeks, Bal­ti­more County Public Schools will cel­e­brate the up­com­ing school year with its big­gest and best back to school fes­ti­val ever. The fes­ti­val will be held on Satur­day, Aug. 26, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., on the lower park­ing lot at Boscov’s White Marsh Mall.

Here are the top 10 rea­sons you will want to join us at the free fes­ti­val.

10. Every 15 min­utes, BCPS will raf­fle off back­packs filled with school sup­plies, do­nated by Pa­tient First. Are you feel­ing lucky?

9. Get­ting up close and per­sonal with fire en­gines is al­ways fun. The White Marsh Vol­un­teer Fire Com­pany is bring­ing an en­gine. Com­pare it to the 1949 Mack En­gine the Fire Mu­seum of Mary­land is bring­ing to the fes­ti­val.

8. Doc the Tiger from Tow­son Univer­sity wants to take a selfie with you.

7. It’s time to “Get Your Head in the Game” for the new school year. Staff from the BCPS Of­fice of Vis­ual Arts will show you how to make a cre­ative, fan­ci­ful pa­per hat sculp­ture, and staff from the BCPS Of­fice of Sci­ence will help you make cool pa­per rock­ets.

6. Stu­dents need our sup­port to achieve aca­demic suc­cess. Learn more on the BCPS Par­ent­mo­bile, a mo­bile par­ent re­source cen­ter, and at in­for­ma­tion ta­bles rep­re­sent­ing BCPS and com­mu­nity pro­grams and ser­vices.

5. Ac­tive bod­ies sup­port ac­tive minds. En­joy play­ing with hula hoops and jump ropes pro­vided by the BCPS Of­fice of Phys­i­cal Ed­u­ca­tion.

4. You’re go­ing to be hun­gry. Buy a de­li­cious lunch from Flat Chance, Jimmy’s Fa­mous Seafood, Maui Wowi Hawai­ian Smooth­ies, or Pablo’s Toc O’s food trucks.

3. Read­ing is a great way to pre­pare for school. Find great books on the Bal­ti­more County Public Li­brary’s Book­mo­bile.

2. If you haven’t heard the psy­che­delic funk band The Groove Ma­chine, you need to hear them. The band is com­prised of seven tal­ented Grade 10 stu­dents from Ge­orge Wash­ing­ton Carver Cen­ter for Arts and Tech­nol­ogy.
