Mid­dle River teen dies from pel­let gun in­juries

Bal­ti­more County Po­lice con­tinue to in­ves­ti­gate the cir­cum­stances sur­round­ing a shoot­ing call in­volv­ing a 15-year-old boy on Dog­wood Drive on the evening on Thurs­day, Septem­ber 6 af­ter the boy later died from his in­juries.

Po­lice were called to the unit block of Dog­wood Drive, 21220 around 6:48 p.m. for a call of a sub­ject with a gun­shot wound. Po­lice and EMS be­gan life-sav­ing pro­ce­dures af­ter find­ing the boy in the rear yard of the home in car­diac ar­rest, and con­tin­ued life­sav­ing pro­ce­dures while he was trans­ported to Johns Hop­kins Bayview Med­i­cal Cen­ter where he was later pro­nounced de­ceased.

This in­ci­dent is cur­rently be­ing in­ves­ti­gated as an ac­ci­den­tal in­jury death. Ini­tial in­for­ma­tion in­di­cates that the teen was struck in the chest by a round or frag­ment of a round from a pel­let ri­fle as he and a friend were shoot­ing tar­gets in the yard. The case will be for­warded to the State’s At­tor­ney’s Of­fice for re­view fol­low­ing the con­clu­sion of the in­ves­ti­ga­tion and de­ter­mi­na­tion of cause and man­ner of death by the Of­fice of the Chief Med­i­cal Ex­am­iner.
