Vehicle crashes into bank on Route 422
AMITY » Three people were injured Monday after a vehicle crashed into a bank branch in Amity Township.
According to police, the crash occurred on Monday, Aug. 27, at approximately 2:22 p.m. Amity Township Police responded to a crash with injuries at Key Bank, 1191 Ben Franklin Highway (Route 422). Upon arrival, police found that a 2005 Ford Escape accidentally ran into the wall of the bank, causing damage to the building’s wall and window.
The driver of the vehicle, from Pottstown, and the passenger of the vehicle sustained facial injuries from the impact. Police did not identify the passenger or the driver by name.
Both the driver and passenger were transported by ambulance to Reading Hospital for treatment of their injuries. A bank employee who was in the office where the impact occurred sustained minor injuries, police said.
Police have not yet specified the circumstances that led up to the crash.
Key Bank was inspected by Amity Township Code Enforcement and was deemed safe for occupancy and the bank remained open during the course of the incident.
