Ve­hi­cle crashes into bank on Route 422

AMITY » Three peo­ple were in­jured Mon­day after a ve­hi­cle crashed into a bank branch in Amity Town­ship.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice, the crash oc­curred on Mon­day, Aug. 27, at ap­prox­i­mately 2:22 p.m. Amity Town­ship Po­lice re­sponded to a crash with in­juries at Key Bank, 1191 Ben Franklin High­way (Route 422). Upon ar­rival, po­lice found that a 2005 Ford Es­cape ac­ci­den­tally ran into the wall of the bank, caus­ing dam­age to the build­ing’s wall and win­dow.

The driver of the ve­hi­cle, from Pottstown, and the pas­sen­ger of the ve­hi­cle sus­tained fa­cial in­juries from the im­pact. Po­lice did not iden­tify the pas­sen­ger or the driver by name.

Both the driver and pas­sen­ger were trans­ported by am­bu­lance to Read­ing Hos­pi­tal for treat­ment of their in­juries. A bank em­ployee who was in the of­fice where the im­pact oc­curred sus­tained mi­nor in­juries, po­lice said.

Po­lice have not yet spec­i­fied the cir­cum­stances that led up to the crash.

Key Bank was in­spected by Amity Town­ship Code En­force­ment and was deemed safe for oc­cu­pancy and the bank re­mained open dur­ing the course of the incident.
