Seth Smith hit a goa­head home run in the sev­enth in­ning and the Ori­oles snapped a three-game los­ing streak. Chris Till­man, mak­ing his first start since June 30 af­ter spend­ing time on the pa­ter­nity list, al­lowed just one run and two hits in six in­nings.

Ed­uardo Es­co­bar’s pinch-hit sin­gle snapped a tie in the eighth in­ning and Ed­die Rosario fol­lowed with an RBI sin­gle as the Twins beat the Yan­kees for just the sev­enth time in 26 games at Tar­get Field. Caleb Smith made his MLB de­but for the Yanks and took the loss.

The Astr­ros have hit more homers (151) and scored more runs (544) than any other team in the ma­jors, but they used a bit of small ball to beat the Twins Sun­day. Jake Maris­nick and Jose Al­tuve picked up key stolen bases that led to runs in a 5-3 vic­tory.

The Tigers scored seven runs in the first four in­nings and coasted from there. Nicholas Castel­lanos and Mikie Mah­took hit home runs for the Tigers in the sec­ond and third in­nings, re­spec­tively. put up five ru­ins in the first in­ning and never looked back. Bryce Harper hit a three-run shot in the frame and Ryan Zim­mer­man be­came the fran­chise’s all-time home run leader (235).

Gre­gory Polanco hit RBI dou­bles in the fifth and sixth in­nings, pro­pel­ling the Pi­rates to their eighth win in their last 10 games. Polanco fin­ished 4-for-4.

Tommy Pham’s three-run homer capped a six-run sixth in­ning for the Car­di­nals. Paul DeJong hit a two-run homer in the sixth and has home­red in four straight games against the Mets, the long­est streak by a Car­di­nals player in the his­tory of the se­ries.

Gian­carlo Stan­ton slugged two homers and Dee Gor­don hit a walk-off sin­gle in the 10th in­ning for the Mar­lins. Stan­ton has 28 homers, which puts him first in the Na­tional League.

It’s very doubt­ful Jon Lester will win 19 games this sea­son as he did in the Cubs’ World Se­ries sea­son of 2016. He en­ters this game at 5-6 with an ERA of 4.25, al­most two runs higher than last year. But he’s 4-1, 1.95 in five ca­reer starts in At­lanta.
