Fair­grounds Fes­ti­val of Lights opens the day af­ter Thanks­giv­ing

A Po­lar Stop with toy train lay­outs, a build­ing com­pe­ti­tion with canned goods to ben­e­fit the Food Bank of Western New York and Kandy Kane’s Hol­i­day Magic Show are among the new sights this year at the Fair­grounds Fes­ti­val of Lights at the Erie County Fair­grounds in Ham­burg.

The 13th an­nual fes­ti­val opens from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Fri­day, Nov. 24. It runs Fri­days, Satur­days and Sun­days through Dec. 17, as well as Dec. 18-23. Fes­ti­val grounds are open un­til 10 p.m. Be­gin­ning the week­end of Dec. 8, lo­cal com­pa­nies will com­pete to build struc­tures made en­tirely out of canned goods. Em­ploy­ees from Prax­air, Fer­gu­son Elec­tric, Ham­burg Gam­ing and Na­tional Fuel will show­case their de­signs Dec. 15-23.

Ad­mis­sion is $25 a car­load and vis­i­tors can save $10 by ob­tain­ing an ad­vance car­load voucher at all Tops Mar­kets un­til Nov. 23.
