Voicing support for independent thought

Memo to Buffalo social media sports fans: It’s not the local sports reporter’s job to root for the home team. I’m surprised at the number of online comments faulting Buffalo News sports reporters for not rooting for the Bills. Amazing. I realize we have been getting biased media rooting from both sides in the political world but now some fans are expecting the same thing from our sports journalists? In Buffalo’s own “The Natural,” circa 1983, Roy Hobbs calls time out when he realizes his pitcher is throwing the game by throwing fat pitches to the opponent’s batters to hit. Hobbs trots in to the pitching mound and says “Al, give them the real stuff.” Please, News sports reporters, continue to do your job and give us the real stuff. I’ll make my own decisions on how the team is doing. You’ve made your opinion and reporting pieces obvious to me. Sorry that there are fans out there that need you to be lemmings.
