Thanks for supporting special ed. students
The Special Education Department of Calvert County Public Schools wishes to enthusiastically thank the following businesses for their willingness in providing workplaces and job experiences to our students over the 2016-2017 school year and summer. The Summer Youth Employment (SYE) program is made possible by an annual grant from Maryland’s Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS). The SYE program has been growing steadily the past several years and this past summer provided job-training opportunities for several of our students — some of whom were then hired.
We hope the citizens of the tri-county region will support these organizations: Armory Road Self Storage, Safeway of Prince Frederick, Peebles, Holiday Inn Express in Prince Frederick, Holiday Inn Select Conference Center and Marina in Solomons, 231 Farm Center, The Lobby Coffee Bar and Cafe and Calvert County Parks and Recre- ation. We also want to thank the following schools for their willingness to involve our students in their various buildings and grounds projects: Beach Elementary, Barstow Elementary, Mutual Elementary, Plum Point Elementary, Plum Point Middle and Patuxent High.
In addition, we wish to thank The Arc Southern Maryland (www.arsomd.org) for providing job coaches and various support to students in this SYE program and during the school year as well.
We so appreciate our partnerships and hope other businesses and agencies will join in on this important endeavor. If you have any questions or would like to discuss a partnership with Calvert County Public Schools, please contact: Paul Reilly, transition specialist, CCPS — Special Education Department, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 443550-83841.
