This contest goes to the dogs

The Calvert Recorder - - Front Page -

Above, Low Rider, a peg-legged tri-color Corgi, enjoys a ride in his pirate ship, while owners Tracy Riley and Steve Young of North Beach, and Angel, a Westie dressed a mermaid, push him along. Low Rider was attacked by three dogs three weeks ago and is still recovering from the partial loss of his leg. The quartet competed in North Beach’s sixth annual Hound of the Town Halloween dog contest and won the overall prize Saturday. Below left, Sally, a 10-year-old deaf rescue dog from Chesapeake Beach, and owner Levi Rodman won third place in the Best Dog/Owner Costume category. Below right, on Saturday morning with nothing to do, out came Lola and Bailey as Thing 1 and Thing 2. The pair, with owner Jenn DeSimone of North Beach, dressed as “The Cat in the Hat” and placed second in the Best Dog/Owner Costume category.
