Girls soc­cer Hunt­ing­town 8, City 0

The Hur­ri­canes (15-2 over­all) rolled to the shutout vic­tory over their Bal­ti­more City ad­ver­sary in the Class 3A South Re­gion fi­nal at North Point High School on Wed­nes­day evening.

Hunt­ing­town, which led 3-0 at half­time, will face 3A East cham­pion Atholton of Howard County in the state semi­fi­nals at 5 p.m. Satur­day at Linganore High School in Fred­er­ick.

River Hill 3, Calvert 2 (OT)

The visit­ing Cavaliers led late in the sec­ond half, but ul­ti­mately lost an over­time heart­breaker ver­sus Howard County’s River Hill in the 2A South Re­gion cham­pi­onship game.

Calvert (15-2) trailed 1-0 at half­time, then scored twice to take the lead with 6 min­utes 48 sec­onds left to play in reg­u­la­tion. River Hill came back to tie and won late in over­time.

The con­test was a re­match of last year’s 2A state cham­pi­onship game, that also won by the Hawks by a one-goal mar­gin

Boys soc­cer River Hill 8, Calvert 0

Af­ter an emo­tional over­time win in 2A South Sec­tion II fi­nal at La Plata the round be­fore, Calvert’s boys had their sea­son end in a shutout at River Hill in the 2A South fi­nal.

The Cavaliers fin­ish with an 11-6 mark.
