Eight charged in various drug enforcement cases
Marijuana growing, distribution alleged
Over the summer, the Calvert sheriff’s office’s drug enforcement unit made several arrests following house searches and road surveillance that resulted in eight people being criminally charged, six of whom were indicted by a grand jury in recent months.
Two men and a woman from North Beach were indicted in August on drug-related charges after police allegedly found eight marijuana plants, equipment used to grow in- door marijuana plants, 206 grams of marijuana, marijuana wax and drug paraphernalia during a May 24 search at a house in the 3000 block of Seventh Street, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office sent last week.
Stephen Joseph Whitlock, 68, was indicted for alleged manufacturing a controlled dangerous substance while Jessica Dawn Pando, 44, and Brian Stephen Whitlock, 48, were indicted for reported distribution. Plea hearings for the three are set for Oct. 22 in circuit court.
Also in North Beach, deputies reportedly saw a handto-hand transaction during surveillance July 18. In a traffic stop on one of the cars involved in the transaction, police allegedly found a small amount of cocaine and several items of drug paraphernalia. Police said Marvin Andrew Willard, 30, of North Beach was the person who sold Suboxone to someone during the transaction that was observed by the drug enforcement unit. Willard was charged with distributing drugs while another occupant of the car, Nicholas Presson Kaine, 39, of North Beach, was charged with drug possession.
Willard has been held in a Hagerstown prison without bond since Aug. 22. A plea hearing for him is set for Oct. 22 in circuit court. Kaine was released on recognizance July 18, and a hearing for him is scheduled for Nov. 26 in district court.
In an April 27 search, police reportedly found alprazolam, Xanax and marijuana, all controlled substances, at a house in the 1400 block of Knight Avenue in Dunkirk. Brian Patrick Bayne, 34, of Dunkirk was indicted by a grand jury in August for alleged possession of drugs with intent to distribute, according to the sheriff’s office.
In a June 29 search, deputies allegedly found 122 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia in a house in the 400 block of Chestnut Drive in Lusby. Lyndon Daniel Flora Jr., 34, of Lusby was indicted in August for possession of drugs with intent to distribute. Flora posted bond in September, and a conference status hearing is set for Oct. 26.
In an Aug. 15 search, police found 82 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia in a house in the 600 block of White Rock Road in Lusby. Jaquan Marquis Devon Wills, 20, of Lusby was indicted in September for possession of drugs with intent to distribute.
