Calvert County Meals on Wheels volunteers recognized
Calvert Meals on Wheels honored its volunteers and elected new officers at its annual meeting held last month at the Calvert Pines Senior Center.
The guest speaker was United Way of Calvert County President and Chief Executive Officer Kelly Chambers.
Calvert Meals on Wheels honored its deceased volunteers who served 10 years or more with a plaque that bears the names of Jack and Doris Johnson, Jacquline Justice, Rose Byrd, and Florence Wilkerson.
Calvert Meals on Wheels also presented certificates to The Arc Southern Maryland volunteers Anthony Jones and Adam Deadlock.
Calvert County Commissioner Mike Hart (R) presented a proclamation honoring Calvert Meals on Wheels during the meeting on behalf of the Board of County Commissioners of Calvert County, which read in part, “the volunteers of Meals on Wheels have provided invaluable service to our senior participants, by serving as Board members, drivers, food deliverers, and volunteer coordinators.”
Calvert Meals on Wheels also elected Shirl Hendley as president.
Other elected officers include treasurer Randy Holt, corresponding secretary Linda Rhodes, recording secretary Lora Culver, and director Charlie Pritchard.
The board also includes other directors, delivery route coordinators, and ex-Office on Aging staff members.
