Wil­liam “Butch” Joseph Jenk­ins Jr.

Wil­liam “Butch” Joseph Jenk­ins Jr. of Port Orange, FL, passed away peace­fully on Oc­to­ber 25, 2018, at the age of 77. He was pre­ceded in death by his par­ents, Wil­liam Joseph Jenk­ins Sr. and Mar­garet Ruth (Kramer) Jenk­ins.

Ded­i­cated and stead­fast, Butch was born in Washington, DC, on Sept. 22, 1941, the el­dest of sib­lings Gary and Ruth Ann. He was bap­tized in the Catholic Church. He spent the ma­jor­ity of his adult life as a res­i­dent of North Beach, MD, and was a 48 year mem­ber of the North Beach Vol­un­teer Fire Depart­ment, where he held var­i­ous ad­min­is­tra­tive po­si­tions: pres­i­dent, sec­re­tary and trea­surer. He was also chair­man and mem­ber of nu­mer­ous com­mit­tees in the Calvert County and South­ern Mary­land As­so­ci­a­tions. He was a past pres­i­dent of the South­ern Mary­land Vol­un­teer Fire­man’s As­so­ci­a­tion and served as North Beach Vol­un­teer Fire Depart­ment’s del­e­gate to the Mary­land State Fire­man’s As­so­ci­a­tion. He was in­ducted to the Calvert County Vol­un­teer Fire & Res­cue As­so­ci­a­tion and the South­ern Mary­land Vol­un­teer Fire­man’s As­so­ci­a­tions Hall of Fame. His em­ploy­ment spanned 42 years with the Penn­syl­va­nia Rail­road, which later be­came Am­trak.

Butch wed his sec­ond wife Iris Denise (Young) Ringer of Mary­land in 1986 and re­lo­cated to Florida in 2010. An avid Washington Red­skins foot­ball fan, Butch also en­joyed bowl­ing, coun­try mu­sic, mu­sic of the 1950’s, golf­ing, hunt­ing, the ocean, play­ing cards, poker, slot ma­chines, and trav­el­ing.

Butch is sur­vived by his wife of 32 years, Iris Denise Jenk­ins; his chil­dren: Re­becca Leigh Jenk­ins and fi­ancé Do­minic Cic­carello; Wil­liam Joseph Jenk­ins III and his wife Michelle; step­son, Kirk Everett Ringer; sib­lings: Gary Jenk­ins and wife Eileen; Ruth Ann Free­stand and hus­band Bill; grand­chil­dren: Daniel Jenk­ins, Han­nah Roberts; two great grand­chil­dren; niece, Alexan­dra; and nephew, Kern Free­land.
