Museum to host free night for those with special needs
The Calvert Marine Museum announced it will hold a free special needs night from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, for individuals with special needs and their families or caregivers, according to a press release
“This is the eighth year [the museum] has offered a special needs night, opening the museum to this audience,” Calvert Marine Museum Director Sherrod Sturrock said in the press release. “Over the years families have expressed their appreciation for this safe time. It’s a great opportunity to see how your child responds to the museum and we hope it will be the first of many re- peat visits.”
The event, which is offered in cooperation with Calvert County Parks and Recreation Therapeutic Recreation Services, allows individuals to meet the museum’s mascot otter Bubbles, and enjoy the skates and rays, fish, fossils, and activities in the Discovery Room, the release states.
A model train will also be on display from 1 p.m. through Saturday, Nov. 10, courtesy of the Chesapeake Beach Model Railroad Club.
