Ridgeland tabs Lindsay Tahler for volleyball post
The Ridgeland High School athletic department announced their new coaching staff for the 2015 season.
Lindsay Tahler, a member of the 2009 Ridgeland graduating class, has been named as the new head coach, replacing Kari Cooper, who had been in the position for the past four years.
Tahler returned to Walker County last year to join the faculty at her alma mater after completing a degree in Journalism at the University of Georgia. She currently teaches English-Language Arts in the RHS Freshman Academy.
Leslie Welch, a Walker County native and a graduate of LaFayette High School, will serve as an assistant. Welch has an extensive background in volleyball, including four years as a varsity starter for the Lady Ramblers and multiple select teams.
She was twice named North Georgia Player of the Year and earned a volleyball scholarship to Shorter University in Rome, where she was named an Academic All-American and contributed to her team’s No. 2 national NCCAA ranking. Welch has had head coaching experience previously at the middle school level. This will be her first season as a high school coach.
