Signups now tak­ing place for Chicken Din­ner tour­na­ment

The 79th an­nual Chicken Din­ner Golf tour­na­ment will take place at the LaFayette Golf Course on June 13 and 14.

En­try fee is $125 per player, which in­cludes cart fee for both days. The first group starts at 7:30 a.m. each morn­ing. Sun­day tee times will be avail­able on­line at city­oflafayet­teGA.org.

The tra­di­tional chicken din­ner will be served be­tween 12-4 p.m. on Satur­day only.

The tour­na­ment will be stroke play and will be flighted af­ter Satur­day’s round. The cham­pi­onship flight will be determined by Satur­day’s scores only.

Dob­bins Soft­ball Con­sult­ing and Devel­op­ment and ProS­tar Fast­pitch will present the Ge­or­gia Sum­mer Col­le­giate In­struc­tional Clinic. The clinic will be held on Tues­day, July 21 from 9:30 a.m.4:30 p.m. at Jack Mat­tox Park in Ring­gold. Play­ers will get a lunch break from 12-12:45 p.m.

The clinic will be for play­ers ages 12-18 years old. The cost is $95 per player and there will be a 95 par­tic­i­pant limit. Play­ers may reg­is­ter at dob­binssoft­ballcd.com. Pre-reg­is­tra­tion is re­quired.

The clinic will fea­ture in­struc­tion from ACC, SEC and other coaches from pro­grams in the Southeast. Ses­sions will fea­ture a skill eval­u­a­tion, prac­tice and drills, fol­lowed by a live con­trolled scrim­mage.

Cer­ti­fied um­pires will be used for the scrim­mage and there will also be a gen­eral ques­tion and an­swer for play­ers, par­ents, and coaches at­tend­ing the event.
