Crownover earns ACC Pitcher of the Year

For­mer Ring­gold base­ball stand­out Matthew Crownover con­tin­ues to shine at Clem­son.

The ju­nior was re­cently voted the ACC Pitcher of the Year, be­com­ing the first Clem­son stu­dent-ath­lete to be named ACC Pitcher of the Year since the award was es­tab­lished in 2005.

Crownover, who fin­ished the sea­son with a 10-1 record in 14 starts on the mound, leads the ACC in wins and holds the low­est ERA among qual­i­fy­ing pitch­ers at 1.42. He also struck out 91 bat­ters in 95 innings while al­low­ing just 64 hits, 33 walks and has limited op­pos­ing hit­ters to a .187 bat­ting av­er­age and just 14 to­tal ex­tra­base hits.

A to­tal of six Clem­son play­ers earned first, sec­ond or thirdteam All-ACC hon­ors.
