Lady Generals soccer team takes down Coahulla Creek
Sophie Roberts netted a first-half goal and Brianna Smotherman and Ansley Peeler added insurance goals in the second half as the Heritage Lady Generals improved to 4-1 on the season with a 3-1 victory at Coahulla Creek this past Thursday.
Heritage led 1-0 at intermission, thanks to a penalty kick save by Tennessee Wesleyanbound senior keeper Jennie Bridges.
Calhoun boys 3, Heritage 1
The Generals suffered their first loss of the season on Friday, dropping a decision at Calhoun. Dennis Viars had the lone goal for Heritage (3-1).
Both Heritage varsity squads are slated to play on Tuesday when they travel to Tunnel Hill to face off with Northwest Whitfield in Region 6-AAAA contests. Both the Generals and Lady Generals will be at home against Pickens on Friday.
North Murray girls 3, LFO 2
Kristina Wooten scored a pair of goals this past Thursday night, but her performance was not enough to get the Lady Warriors past the Lady Mountaineers as the Red-and-White dropped a narrow decision in Chatsworth.
Faith Jones and Sydney Moss had the assists for LFO (0-4, 0-2), while Becca Leggett recorded seven saves in net.
North Murray boys 10, LFO 0
The Warriors fell to 0-4 overall and 0-2 in region play with a loss to the Mountaineers.
LFO boys were scheduled to play at home on Monday against Howard of Chattanooga, but due to newspaper deadlines, results were not available as of press time.
Both LFO squads were also slated to be in action at home on Tuesday against LaFayette. They will jump back into region play Thursday at Calhoun.
Northwest sweeps Ringgold
Ringgold played its opening matches in Tunnel Hill this past Friday and the Tigers and Lady Tigers both lost by 10-0 scores in a pair of non-region matches.
Ringgold will play at Coahulla Creek in Region 6-AAA matches on Tuesday before host Ridgeland in non-region contests on Friday.
Matches will start at 5 p.m. both days.
