RMS Tigers off to 3-0 start

The Ring­gold Mid­dle School Tigers got off to a 3-0 start to the 2017 base­ball sea­son with a trio of wins over the week­end.

Ring­gold 9, Lake­view 0

The Tigers got five strong in­nings from McCain Mangum, who struck out seven and al­lowed just one hit. Ma­son Parker closed it out with two strike­outs in two in­nings.

Kenyon Ran­som had a two-run sin­gle, Chase Ghorm­ley added an RBI-dou­ble and Eli Nor­ris picked up an RBI with a bases-loaded walk. Mangum and Ma­son Parker also had hits in the win.

In­di­vid­ual sta­tis­tics for Lake­view were not pro­vided.

Ring­gold 17, Chris­tian Her­itage 5

In Game 1 of Satur­day’s dou­ble­header, Parker was 3-for-4 with five RBIs, in­clud­ing a bases-clear­ing dou­ble. Mangum and Sam Mills had two hits and two RBIs each, while Nor­ris and Austin McMa­han both knocked in runs with sin­gles.

McMa­han started on the hill and went three in­nings with seven strike­outs. Nor­ris fanned two as he pitched the last two frames.

Ring­gold 13, Chris­tian Her­itage 1

Ran­som opened the game with a dou­ble and later added a three-run triple to help the Tigers com­plete the sweep. Colin Moun­tjoy dou­bled and Nor­ris, Price Pen­ning­ton, Lan­don Forster, Hay­den Black, Brodie Spur­geon and Noah Car­pen­ter all also had hits in the win.

Black started and went three in­nings, al­low­ing one run on one hit with four strike­outs. Ghorm­ley threw two shutout in­nings in re­lief and fanned three.

Lake­view wins twice in var­sity play­day

The War­riors played two scrim­mage games in an NGAC play­day at Lake­view on Satur­day. The Red-and-White blanked Chat­tanooga Val­ley, 10-0, be­hind the pitch­ing of Malachi Pow­ell and later claimed a 5-2 win over Dade County as Josh McAfee got the win.
