RMS Tigers off to 3-0 start
The Ringgold Middle School Tigers got off to a 3-0 start to the 2017 baseball season with a trio of wins over the weekend.
Ringgold 9, Lakeview 0
The Tigers got five strong innings from McCain Mangum, who struck out seven and allowed just one hit. Mason Parker closed it out with two strikeouts in two innings.
Kenyon Ransom had a two-run single, Chase Ghormley added an RBI-double and Eli Norris picked up an RBI with a bases-loaded walk. Mangum and Mason Parker also had hits in the win.
Individual statistics for Lakeview were not provided.
Ringgold 17, Christian Heritage 5
In Game 1 of Saturday’s doubleheader, Parker was 3-for-4 with five RBIs, including a bases-clearing double. Mangum and Sam Mills had two hits and two RBIs each, while Norris and Austin McMahan both knocked in runs with singles.
McMahan started on the hill and went three innings with seven strikeouts. Norris fanned two as he pitched the last two frames.
Ringgold 13, Christian Heritage 1
Ransom opened the game with a double and later added a three-run triple to help the Tigers complete the sweep. Colin Mountjoy doubled and Norris, Price Pennington, Landon Forster, Hayden Black, Brodie Spurgeon and Noah Carpenter all also had hits in the win.
Black started and went three innings, allowing one run on one hit with four strikeouts. Ghormley threw two shutout innings in relief and fanned three.
Details on Monday’s game against Dalton were not available as of press time.
Lakeview wins twice in varsity playday
The Warriors played two scrimmage games in an NGAC playday at Lakeview on Saturday. The Red-and-White blanked Chattanooga Valley, 10-0, behind the pitching of Malachi Powell and later claimed a 5-2 win over Dade County as Josh McAfee got the win.
