Catoosa County Libary holding baseball raffle

The Catoosa County News - - WORSHIP DIRECTORY -

The Friends of the Catoosa County Library is holding a raffle for a baseball signed by Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman.

Tickets can be purchased at the library -- one for $1, six for $5, and thirteen for $10 -- now through April 13 for the drawing to be held on Monday, April 17.

All proceeds go to support the existing Teen program and to help the library launch a new program for Tweens, who are age 9-12.

“We’re very fortunate to have such a great group of community members who dedicate their time and energy to support the library,” said Library Director Richard Groves describing the Friends of the Library. Founded in 1999 the groups has worked tirelessly for years via fundraisers, seeking donations, and an ongoing book sale in the library to supplement library funding for programs such as summer reading.

The Friends of the Catoosa County Library is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, so all donations are tax-deductible.

Youth Coordinator Shannon Neal says of the Friends, “Without them our summer reading program and teen programs would be much smaller, and we wouldn’t be able to begin to consider the weekly program we’re starting for middle-schoolers.”

Freddie signed the ball at this year’s Braves Spring Training in Florida. Freeman and the Braves are looking forward to another great year of baseball starting in April with the opening of their new stadium in Cobb County, SunTrust Park. Freddie Freeman made his Major League debut in September 2010 after being drafted by the Braves in the second round of the 2007 draft. His awards include 2010 International League Rookie of the Year and 2010 International League Post All-Star.
