Sydney Smith named GACA All-State
Following a 25-win season, the Heritage Lady Generals basketball team picked up some more postseason hardware this past week as senior Sydney Smith was selected to the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association’s Class AAAA North All-State team.
Smith averaged over 14 points a game for the Navy-and-Red this past season and finished her career with over 1,000 points.
She shot 53 percent from the floor as a senior and added 115 rebounds, 57 steals, 38 assists and 25 blocks.
Heritage amassed an 81-34 overall in four years with Smith on the roster.
Bria Clemmons and Holly Heath from Northwest Whitfield were the other two representatives from Region 6 on the roster.
The rest of the glitter squad included Jordan Bailey of Madison County, Breanna Stephens and Alexis Wallace of Chapel Hill, Shanqualia Stanton of Sandy Creek, Emma Weynand of North Oconee, Macy Passmore of West Hall, Lindsey Caudell of Chestatee and Jazmin Allen of Jefferson.
Abbie Franklin and Jefferson and Anna McKendree of West Hall were selected as the Class AAAA North Coplayers of the Year.
Northwest Whitfield’s Luke Shiflett was the only player from Region 6 to make the boys’ team.
