Syd­ney Smith named GACA All-State

Fol­low­ing a 25-win sea­son, the Her­itage Lady Gen­er­als bas­ket­ball team picked up some more post­sea­son hard­ware this past week as se­nior Syd­ney Smith was se­lected to the Ge­or­gia Ath­letic Coaches As­so­ci­a­tion’s Class AAAA North All-State team.

Smith av­er­aged over 14 points a game for the Navy-and-Red this past sea­son and fin­ished her ca­reer with over 1,000 points.

She shot 53 per­cent from the floor as a se­nior and added 115 re­bounds, 57 steals, 38 as­sists and 25 blocks.

Her­itage amassed an 81-34 over­all in four years with Smith on the ros­ter.

Bria Clem­mons and Holly Heath from North­west Whit­field were the other two rep­re­sen­ta­tives from Re­gion 6 on the ros­ter.

The rest of the glit­ter squad in­cluded Jor­dan Bai­ley of Madi­son County, Bre­anna Stephens and Alexis Wal­lace of Chapel Hill, Shan­qualia Stan­ton of Sandy Creek, Emma Wey­nand of North Oconee, Macy Pass­more of West Hall, Lind­sey Caudell of Ch­es­ta­tee and Jazmin Allen of Jef­fer­son.

Ab­bie Franklin and Jef­fer­son and Anna McKen­dree of West Hall were se­lected as the Class AAAA North Co­play­ers of the Year.

North­west Whit­field’s Luke Shi­flett was the only player from Re­gion 6 to make the boys’ team.
