All-Star

-

Lee’s Noah Peterson scored from another error by the Tennessee standouts.

Whitley could have very easily hit a grandslam homerun in the inning, but the deep fly was snatched out of the air by Daniel Willie of Ooltewah High School, retiring the side with the bases loaded.

This, unfortunately— or fortunately for Tennessee faithful— led to Tennessee capitalizing on pitches thrown over the middle of the plate, as well as errors.

While Walls only had one hit in the all-star contest, his four-RBI night proved to be a difference maker, as he earned the Tennessee Player of the Game award. Whitley was the Player of the Game for Georgia, though.

Waters was named the game’s MVP with a 3-for-3 night, three RBIs and striking out three in two innings pitched.

Swafford earned a victory, while starting pitcher Tanner Moylen of Hixson High School blew away three batters with strikeouts in two innings of work. Micah Genter of South Pittsburg pitched the last three innings for the Volunteer State, striking out four.

Nick Woods of East Hamilton High School collected an RBIdouble, while Willie also doubled.

For Georgia, a fivehit day couldn’t get the victory. Aside from two homers and a Peterson double, Dalton High School’s Jantzen Calvo and North Murray’s Blake Davis smacked two hits, which were both singles.

The loss marks Georgia’s 14th defeat to Tennessee, who has an overall record of 14-2 against the stars on the other side of the border.

Though Georgia immensely needed Hill and Barbee to play in the all-star game, Beagles said this time was used for the Heritage players to refocus with their family, and prepare for the next level.

“It’s healthy for some time away to recharge.” Beagles said.
