Gor­don Lee sweeps Ring­gold, Coahulla Creek in tri-match

The Gor­don Lee Tro­jans got tested this past Thurs­day night, but passed with a sweep of Ring­gold and Coahulla Creek in Chicka­mauga.

Gor­don Lee (22-8) be­gan the night with a nar­row 25-23, 25-23 vic­tory over the Lady Colts be­fore squar­ing off with the Lady Tigers in the night­cap.

Ring­gold won the open­ing set, 25-20, but the Lady Tro­jans sent the match to a third-set tiebreaker with a 25-15 vic­tory in the se­cond set. Gor­don Lee led 1615 in the third and fi­nal set when Gra­cie O’Neal served up an ace at match point.

O’Neal fin­ished with 14 kills and 15 digs on the night. Aubree Yancey had 15 kills and seven blocks. De­laney Bridges col­lected 12 kills, while Sum­mer Fitz­patrick added 10 kills and served up five aces.

Ring­gold (16-12) picked up a win with a 25-21, 25-8 de­ci­sion over Coahulla Creek.

Ricky Lynn Bick­ley had six kills and five digs in the win. Chloe Hall had 14 digs to go with a kill and an ace, while Zoie Met­calf dished out 13 as­sists, six digs, four aces and a kill.

Lauren Ter­rell added four kills, six digs, an ace and an as­sist. Bethany Thoma­son had three kills, three aces and two digs. Emily Ri­d­ley picked up three digs and Jasley Brooks fin­ished with one kill.

Against Gor­don Lee, Thoma­son had a teamhigh seven kills and a pair of digs. Bick­ley added six kills and 18 to­tal digs. Met­calf had a big match with 17 as­sists, nine digs, five kills and three aces, while Hall had six digs, a kill and an ace.

Other con­trib­u­tors in­cluded Brooks (4 kills, 1 dig), Ter­rell (6 digs, 1 as­sist, 1 ace) and Ri­d­ley (9 digs, 1 ace).
