The Catoosa County News - - RIDGELAND HOPING TO IMPROVE REGION STANDING - By Scott Herpst

The Oakwood Christian Academy high school soccer team came through with a hardfought 1-1 draw at home against Apostolic of Maryville (Tenn.) this past Thursday night in Chickamauga.

Apostolic scored first, but senior John-Jacob McSpadden would take the ball minutes later and dribbled through the Maryville midfield before blasting home the equalizer from 30 yards out.

OCA would control the action in the second half, but could not find the go-ahead goal. Their best chance came in the closing minutes, but a shot rang off the post, keeping the match tied.

Oakwood will host Apostolic of Knoxville on Tuesday (5:30 p.m.)
