-

Boynton Lions Club recently installed a new member.

“We are very excited to add new friends to our growing club,” said president Dakota McIntire. “We welcome those interested in making a difference in the lives of their neighbors to become part of our effort.”

The latest Lion is Melvin Ray Nelms.

Vision is a primary focus of the organization by assisting area residents who need glasses and qualify for assistance.

The organization works on a statewide level with Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation, Georgia Lions Camp for the Blind and the Emory Child Care Center, he said.

Another major community project is the long-term care and maintenance of the Dailey Hill Cemetery. The group is now receiving donations from friends and relatives of those interred there to assist with the costs of mowing and upkeep. Donations may be sent to Boynton Lions Club c/o BUMC, 4246 Boynton Drive, Ringgold, Ga. 30736.

The Boynton Lions Club meets the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Boynton United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Membership dues are $21 per quarter. Due to such a great response to the March 18 pop-up art event at Gilbert-Stephenson Park in Fort Oglethorpe, officials have added chalk art to Patriotism at The Post. Those in the art community need to know that chalk art is being featured at the 6th Cavalry Museum’s July 3 event. Not only will artists have the opportunity to show their work, a donation is making possible the awarding of cash prizes — just what every starving artist wants to hear. Chalk artist Jessi Queen is one of the featured artists for Patriotism at The Post. Queen has been a chalk artist for over ten years and specializes in fantasy and nature themed portraits.
