Home­less man ar­rested in the rape of woman walk­ing near up­town

Po­lice on Wed­nes­day ar­rested a home­less man in con­nec­tion with the rape of a woman who was walk­ing near up­town Char­lotte when she was at­tacked early on Nov. 1.

Robert An­thony Thomas Jr., 19, was ar­rested on at about 3 a.m. in the 1700 block of West Morehead Street when she was at­tacked, Char­lotte-Meck­len­burg war­rants charg­ing him Po­lice Sgt. Alli Rooks with first-de­gree forcible said at a news con­fer­ence rape, kid­nap­ping and com­mon Mon­day. Rooks called the law rob­bery, Meck­len­burg as­sault “an iso­lated in­ci­dent, County jail records very rare in the show. Thomas was jailed up­town area or any­where in on $80,000 bail, ac­cord­ing Char­lotte.” to jail records.
