The Wilkes-Barre Housing Authority has received a $210,000 grant from the Department of Housing and Urban Development, according to U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright, D-17, Moosic.

The grant is part of HUD’s Resident Opportunities and Self-Service Coordinators program, which helps public housing authorities, according to a news release from Cartwright’s office.

The funding will assist the housing authority’s efforts to “work directly with residents to assess their needs and connect them with education, job training and placement programs, and/or computer and financial literacy services available in their community to promote self-sufficiency,” the news release states.
