Parents of kids with rare medical conditions ask for holiday help
Two local parents said their son was born with three rare medical conditions.
In a letter to Valley Santa, they did not go into detail about his medical conditions but they said they have been struggling with financial issues since they found out about his illnesses before he was born.
They said they are just happy that he is able to go school like a normal kid and they are grateful for Luzerne County Head Start.
They asked for Valley Santa’s help so that their son could receive a Christmas present.
“It is humbling when people you don’t know want to help and make your family’s Christmas something to remember,” they wrote. “We keep saying when we are able to, we hope to give back the way we have been given help.”
Their letter was one of many sent to Valley Santa from families who are unable to afford Christmas gifts.
In another letter, a local mother said her husband is disabled and their daughter has autism. They also just took in another child who was in a “bad situation,” according to their letter.
She asked if Valley Santa could provide a Christmas present for him.
“We’re trying to get him everything he needs and we’re worried we won’t be able to get him Christmas presents,” she wrote.
