Authorities have put the search for a 22-year-old Nanticoke man who “vanished” near Lake Silkworth on hold.

“We’ve suspended the search for a couple days to regroup and get a new plan,” said Lehman Twp. police Sgt. Mark Liparela. “We are conducting interview with friends ... we possibly will regroup on Saturday out there.”

Adam Lutz has been missing since last Thursday night, and authorities mounted a search for him after a friend reported he had “vanished into thin air” after driving around Harveys Lake and along state Route 29 that night.

Liparela said police and other agencies searched the area and the water of Lake Silkworth on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. He said the search has become a recovery mission and they are looking for Lutz’s body.

“We found one boot and a hat along the shoreline in two different spots,” Liparela said. “They were identified as his. That leads me to believe something bad happened there.”

Liparela said no one is in custody.

“I don’t know if it’s criminal or not,” he said. “Right now it’s kind of ‘where is he?’”

Liparela said police and the Germania Hose Company dive team suspended the search after Monday night.

“We just came up with nothing. No leads,” he said.
