Be a voice for the voiceless
Editor: The Feast of the Holy Innocents was commemorated on Dec. 28. These children were martyrs for the faith, killed by Herod who was actually trying to kill our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ. St. Joseph saved the child Jesus by taking Him and the Blessed Virgin Mary to Egypt.
The same scenario is being played out here in Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania Legislature, with bipartisan support, passed SB3. This bill would have changed the time limit for abortions from 24 weeks to 20 weeks, when science has established that pre-born babies experience pain. (It should be noted that the U.S. is one of only seven countries that allows abortions past 20 weeks, two of them being North Korea and China). The bill also would have stopped all dismemberment abortions, when a baby is ripped limb by limb from its mother’s womb. Gov. Tom Wolf chose to veto the bill.
The Pennsylvania Legislature is emblematic of St. Joseph. I’m sure you can guess the modern-day Herod — Gov. Tom Wolf. His veto is incomprehensible but not surprising since he was a former Planned Parenthood escort.
We all need to remember to be a voice for the voiceless in November — vote pro-life. Barbara Yanchek JERMYN
