Wil­ford F. How­ell Jr., 86, of West Pittston, passed away Oct. 11, 2018, in Wilkes-barre Gen­eral Hos­pi­tal.

Born in West Pittston, he was the son of the late Wil­ford Sr. and Es­ther Dy­mond How­ell. He was a grad­u­ate of the West Pittston High School and a mem­ber of the First United Methodist Church in West Pittston.

Wil­ford served in the United States Army in the 31st Bat­tal­ion 7th In­fantry divi­sion dur­ing the Korean Con­flict.

Wil­ford was a mem­ber of the Amer­i­can Le­gion Post 672 Dal­las.

Wil­ford was pre­ceded in death by his wife, He­len, in 2017; brother, Rus­sell and sis­ter, El­iz­a­beth.

Wil­ford is sur­vived by his daugh­ters, Bev­erly Bel­lone (Louis), Hanover Twp.; Shar­lene Brown (Doug), West Pittston; Colleen Frushon (Joe), Dupont; Chrissy Fer­nan­des (Shawn), West Pittston; sons, Rus­sell (Amy), Plains Twp.; Wayne (Judie), Wilkes Barre; David (Mau­reen), The Vil­lages in Florida; brother, Ken, South Dakota, and sis­ters, Jean, Hughestown; and Marge, Florida; 16 grand­chil­dren; and five great-grand­chil­dren; and sev­eral nieces and neph­ews.

The fu­neral will be held Tues­day at How­ell-lussi Fu­neral Home, 509 Wy­oming Ave. in West Pittston, with a ser­vice be­gin­ning at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Tenny Rup­nick of­fi­ci­at­ing. Ev­ery­one is asked to be at the fu­neral home by 9:45 a.m. In­ter­ment will be in Moun­tain View Burial Park in Hard­ing. Friends may call from 5 un­til 8 p.m. Mon­day at the fu­neral home.

In lieu of flow­ers, do­na­tions may be made to the Amer­i­can Heart As­so­ci­a­tion.
