Hed­wig R. Gill, 99, of Laflin and of St. John’s Apart­ments, Wilkes-barre, passed away Fri­day, Oct. 12, 2018, at The Dawn Green Hospice, New York City.

Born in Wilkes-barre, she was the daugh­ter of the late Frank and He­len (Bri­estek) Niemiec.

Hed­wig was a grad­u­ate of Jenk­ins Twp. High School, and was a home­maker all her life. She was an amaz­ing cook and an ex­tra­or­di­nary home dec­o­ra­tor.

She was a mem­ber of St. Maria Goretti Church, Laflin, and a mem­ber of the Parish Rosary Group.

She was pre­ceded in death by her hus­band, Michael Gill; brother, John Niemiec; sis­ters, Josephine Lap­san­sky, Nel­lie Paczkowski, Theresa and Agnes Niemiec and So­phie Ruskey.

Sur­viv­ing are her daugh­ters, Paula Gill, New York City; and Dr. Kather­ine Neville and son-in-law, Dr. Ray Neville, Wap­pingers Falls, N.Y.; grand­chil­dren, Dustin Schi­avi, New York City; and Chris­tine Neville, San Diego, Calif.; sis­ter, Mary Ko­suth, Oak­land, N.J.; and He­len Sartin, Jenk­ins Twp.; sev­eral nieces and neph­ews.

The fu­neral will be held at 10 a.m. Tues­day at Cor­co­ran Fu­neral Home Inc., 20 S. Main St., Plains Twp., with a Mass of Chris­tian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Maria Goretti Church, 42 Red­wood Drive, Laflin, with the Rev. James J. Walsh, pas­tor, of­fi­ci­at­ing. The Parish Rosary Group will pray the Di­vine Mercy Chap­let and rosary in the church 30 min­utes be­fore the Mass. All are in­vited to at­tend. En­tomb­ment will be held in Mount Olivet Ceme­tery, Carver­ton sec­tion of Wy­oming.

Fam­ily and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Mon­day at the fu­neral home.

Me­mo­rial do­na­tions may be made to St. Maria Goretti Church in Hed­wig’s mem­ory.
