Bucks-Mont re­gional re­mod­el­ing as­so­ci­a­tion helps fam­ily in need

Mem­bers of the Bucks-Mont chap­ter of the Na­tional As­so­ci­a­tion of the Re­mod­el­ing In­dus­try joined to­gether Oct. 26 to re­pair a home in Pottstown.

The home­owner, Laura Carlile, has two young chil­dren. Her hus­band, Christo­pher, suc­cumbed to Acute Myeloid Leukemia last Oc­to­ber. He was only 37 years old. At the time they had re­cently bought a fam­ily home and Christo­pher was in the proFHVV RI fixLNJ LWHPV DURUNG WKH KRUVH for his fam­ily.

The Com­mu­nity Ser­vice Com­mit­tee of Bucks- Mont NARI, along with some lo­cal busi­nesses de­cided to step up and do­nate money, ma­te­ri­als and time. The all-day project saw nearly two dozen vol­un­teers. They varied from gen­eral re­mod­el­ers, Carlile fam­ily mem­bers to teacher friends of Laura Carlile. It was a com­mu­ni­ty­wide ef­fort.

Among some of the re­pairs were safety hazard is­sues, elec­tri­cal wiring, sup­port for the out­side deck, and in­stalling of some new storm doors. Joe Ryglicki, Bucks-Mont NARI vice chair­man, summed up the day by pro­claim­ing, “We have done some­thing for this fam­ily in need by mak­ing their home PRUH HNHUJy HI­fiFLHNW DNG VDIHU IRU WKH two young chil­dren.”

The fol­low­ing is a par­tial list of those who helped the project soon be- come a re­al­ity: Reeb Mill­work, Am­biance De­sign, Green Door In­te­ri­ors, JOB Con­struc­tion, Doyle Re­mod­el­ing, Wehrungs Fam­ily Home Center, Odell Paint­ing, K & M En­hance­ments, Lauro Paint­ing, Sov­er­eign Con­struc­tion, Thrivent Fi­nan­cial and Fred Forbes Photography.

Bucks-Mont NARI was es­tab­lished in 1992. It en­com­passes more than 160 mem­ber com­pa­nies in Bucks and Mont­gomery coun­ties. The as­so­ci­a­tion in­cludes con­trac­tors, re­mod­el­ers and sup­pli­ers who are ded­i­cated to in­form­ing the pub­lic of the need for, and the ad­van­tages of, main­tain­ing homes and build­ings in good con­di­tion, and thereby im­prov­ing the hous­ing and build­ing in­ven­tory of the com­mu­nity.

The Com­mu­nity Ser­vice Com­mit­tee is en­gaged in four projects a year. They in­clude re­pair work for war vet­er­ans, relief help dur­ing nat­u­ral dis­as­ters and part­ner­ing with Habi­tat for Hu­man­ity. There are 58 NARI chap­ters in the United States and nearly 7,000 to­tal com­pany mem­bers.
