Nor­ris­town cel­e­brated Black His­tory Month Feb. 12 with a pro­gram of speeches, mu­sic and awards at mu­nic­i­pal hall.

Wil­lie Richet, Nor­ris­town’s for­mer in­terim po­lice chief, re­ceived the Black Her­itage Award, and stu­dents from the Nor­ris­town Area School District were rec­og­nized for their prize-win­ning es­says on the topic of what they would ask Pres­i­dent Barack Obama to do for their schools, if given the chance. Mu­si­cal se­lec­tions were from White­hall El­e­men­tary stu­dents, the male cho­rus of Siloam Bap­tist Church and in­stru­men­tal­ists Miriam James and Charles James II.

Ros­alie Het­rick leads the fourth-grade cho­rus of White­hall El­e­men­tary School in song.
