Fraud ... A case of fraud was reported to the police Aug. 6 at 12:58 p.m. from a man who said his wife got a phone call Aug. 4 at 11:26 a.m. from a man who identified himself as the woman’s grandson, police said. The man posing as her grandson said he needed $2,700 in bail money to get out of jail, police said. He instructed her to send the money via Western Union to a bonding company in Dominican Republic, according to the police, and the money was sent. On Aug. 6, the residents received another phone call from the man posing as their grandson, and he said the bail had been increased by another $2,700, and after that money was sent, the residents received another phone call for $1,500 in court administration fees, which was also sent, police said.
Disorderly conduct ... Crosby Alverez, 18, of the 900 block of East Allens Lane in Philadelphia, was cited for disordely conduct Aug. 6 at 8:26 p.m., after police observed Alverez in a vehicle at Laurel Beech Park in Wyndmoor and detected the odor of marijuana, police said.
Theft from vehicle ... A resident reported at 12:17 p.m. that a purse containing ID, credit cards, cash and an iPhone was taken out of her vehicle Aug. 6, police said. The passenger side window of the car was broken, police said.
Simple assault ... A sim- ple assault case was reported to the police Aug. 7 at 11:34 a.m. at the Carson Valley School, 1419 Bethlehem Pike, Flourtown, police said. A 15-year-old involved in the July 31 incident has been petitioned to juvenile court, police said.
Theft from vehicle ... The passenger side window of a vehicle was reported smashed Aug. 7 at 3:34 p.m., police said. A purse containing a wallet was taken from the car, which was parked at the Oreland Swim Club, 190 Paper Mill Road, since around 1:30 p.m., police said.
Vandalsim ... Russell Roofing Co., located at 1200 Pennsylvania Ave., Oreland, reported that sometime between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Aug. 7, pry marks were made around the keyhole of the door, but nothing was taken, police said.
Theft from vehicle ... A wallet was taken from a vehicle on the 200 block of Paper Mill Road Aug. 5, police said. The theft occurred between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., when the vehicle was unlocked and unattended.
Theft ... A Giant bike with silver, black and yellow lettering was reported stolen from a car port on the 200 block of Preston Road, Flourtown, Aug. 10 around 2 p.m., police said.
Public drunkenness ... Robin Jimenez, 26, of the 2100 block of Spring House Lane, Aston, Pa., was arrested for public drunkenness Aug. 10 around 3 a.m. along Haws Lane, Flourtown, police said. She was processed and taken to the police station, police said.
Simple assault ... Awoman walked into the police station Aug. 10 at 8 a.m. and reported that she had been assaulted by her husband, police said. There had been an argument between the two inside the property on the 1400 block of Cromwell Road, Wyndmoor, and the man slapped her across her lower back, grabbed her arms and a struggle ensued, police reported. The man was arrested and charged with simple assault and harassment, police said. He was processed and had a video arraignment by District Judge Karen Zucker, who set bail at $5,000 unsecured, with the condition that he have no contact with the family until his preliminary hearing Aug. 18, police said.
