Dis­cus­sion to fo­cus on fi re­fight­ers’ safety

Fire­fight­ers and oth­ers push­ing for safety re­forms to pre­vent can­cer will dis­cuss the is­sue Wed­nes­day in a pub­lic fo­rum.

The Colum­bus Dis­patch and the Colum­bus Di­vi­sion of Fire are spon­sor­ing the 7 p.m. fo­rum to talk about the threat of can­cer in the fire ser­vice and what else can be done to pro­tect fire­fight­ers.

The pub­lic event will be held at the Colum­bus Fire Train­ing Academy’s John Nance Au­di­to­rium, 3639 Par­sons Ave.

Ad­mis­sion is free, and park­ing is avail­able on site. Mike Thomp­son, chief con­tent di­rec­tor for news and pub­lic af­fairs at WOSU Ra­dio, will mod­er­ate the event.
