3rd heat-related death reported in Shelby

Shelby County health officials Tuesday confirmed that a third person has died from heat-related causes this summer.

The Health Department provided no details on the victim or circumstances.

Officials did, however, stress the importance of residents keeping hydrated and remaining in air-conditioned homes and buildings as much as possible.

The death toll compares to a total of six heatrelated fatalities reported in 2015.

Memphis endured its fourth-hottest summer on record during the three-month period of June through August, according to the National Weather Service.
