The Powerball jackpot climbs higher and higher, soaring to an estimated $700 million for Wednesday night’s drawing.

The one-time cash option is also set at $443 million by the multi-state lottery game that is played in 44 states.

The final Powerball jackpot and cash option will be set just before the late Wednesday evening drawing based on ticket sales.

The Powerball jackpot has not been hit since early June. A $700 million jackpot would make it the second-largest lottery prize ever handed out in America, topped only by a $1.6 billion Powerball prize shared by three ticket holders in January 2016.

A Mega Millions jackpot was hit in Illinois earlier this month at $393 million.

Powerball tickets are $2 per play, with drawings on Wednesday and Saturday evenings. And don’t expect a miracle. The odds of hitting the Powerball jackpot are one in 292.2 million.

If a winner takes the $700 million, the sum will be paid out in annual annuities over 29 years.
