Memphis win over Houston would let fans dream big
Behold, the possibilities. If Memphis defeats Houston on Thursday night, it will be the prohibitive favorite to win the American Athletic Conference’s West division.
If Memphis wins the AAC West, it will play in the AAC Championship game.
If Memphis wins the AAC Championship game, it will be ranked ahead of South Florida and Central Florida by the College Football Playoff selection committee and may well be ranked ahead of every other school outside the Power 5.
If Memphis is ranked ahead of every other school outside the Power 5, it will be selected to play in the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl on Jan. 1.
If Memphis wins that game, it will certainly end the season ranked in the top 10 in the country, and possibly the top five.
“It’s a wonderful time to be a Memphis Tiger,” said coach Mike Norvell, and when the man is right, he’s right.
