Pine Forge Sr. Babe Ruth improves to 10-0 with three wins
The Bearcats defeated Reading on June 12, 9-1. Justin Wiand led the offense with a two-run single in the first inning. Logan Mabry and Mike Freed combined for a strong pitching performance.
On June 18, the Triple Threat topped Reading, 122. Justin Wiand led the way for the Triple Threat with three hits, while Jim Kreisher drove in three runs.
BOYERTOWN LIGHT BLUE
The Boyertown Light Blue squad defeated Spring-Ford on June 12, 14-19. Trey Hartline and Jake Harman each scored three runs for the winners.
On June 13, the Light Blue defeated Upper Perk Gold, 4-2. Jordan Miller was the winning pitcher, fanning six Upper Perk batters.
PINE FORGE INDIANS
The Sr. Babe Ruth Pine Forge Indians defeated Norchester on June 13, 9-2. Dave Terry and John DeMartino had three hits and two runs apiece to lead the locals. Mitch Pinder was the winning pitcher.
On June 15, Pine Forge cruised by West Chester, 121. Seth Endy had a big day offensively for Pine Forge, getting four hits with a double and two RBIs. Jordan Shustack contributed three hits and two RBIs and winning pitcher Ryan Black added two hits and three RBIs. Black allowed five hits in six innings.
The Indians improved to 10-0 in league play and 10-1 overall after defeating West Chester on June 18, 6-3. Jordan Shustack was the winning pitcher, fanning 15 West Chester batters. He and John DeMartino each drove in two runs to lead the offense.
The Jr. Legion Bear-Cubs began the week with a 12-1 victory over Conrad Weiser on June 13. Andrew Hartman pitched a one-hitter for Boyertown, in a game that ended after five innings due to the mercy rule. Tate Yergey and Eric Randall led the Bear-Cub offense with two hits and one RBI each, while Noah Kurtz and Hunter Bales each had two hits and two runs scored.
On June 14, the Bear-Cubs nipped Spring City, 7-6. Brock Babb drove in a run in the bottom of the seventh to pull out the win for the Bear-Cubs. Yergey drive in three runs and Nick Esz was the winning pitcher.
The Boyertown Jr. Legion Grizzlies defeated Phoenixville on June 13, 2-1. Winning pitcher Mike Hohlfeld hurled a complete game two-hitter. Jake DiCesare had a single and a double for the Grizzlies, and Cory Melchoir knocked in a run. Caleb Harrison chipped in with a double.
On June 14, the Grizzlies got shutout pitching from Caleb Harrison and Ryan Schwab in a 6-0 victory over Freemansburg. Harrison helped his own cause with a pair of hits and one RBI, while Nolan Kline and Kaleb Miller each drove in a run. Ian Stephens contributed with a triple.
The Boyertown Bear-Cubs are 10-1 in the Berks County Area Junior Legion League, a half game behind first place West Lawn (11-1).
