Art of Re­cov­ery: The Art of Re­cov­ery: Brush with the Law ex­hi­bi­tion will be on dis­play through Oct. 28 at the West Cam­pus of Mont­gomery County Com­mu­nity Col­lege in Pottstown. The ex­hi­bi­tion is cu­rated by Maria Ma­neos, founder and di­rec­tor of Brush with the Law, a non­profit, com­mu­nity ser­vice-based vis­ual arts pro­gram that helps bring aware­ness to and fos­ters an un­der­stand­ing of peo­ple who ex­pe­ri­ence the ef­fects of drug ad­dic­tion and the crim­i­nal jus­tice sys­tem. The ex­hi­bi­tion fea­tures about 50 artis­tic cre­ations, in­clud­ing draw­ings and paint­ings, by for­mer pris­on­ers and those in re­cov­ery from drug ad­dic­tion who are af­fil­i­ated with the Brush with the Law pro­gram. A re­cep­tion fea­tur­ing Ma­neos and the artists will be held Sept. 27 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the gallery. The ex­hi­bi­tion and the re­cep­tion are free and open to the pub­lic. Pottstown Area Gar­den Club: meets on the first Fri­day of each month at St. James Lutheran Church, 1101 E. High St., Pottstown at 11:30 a.m. The club is open to any­one in­ter­ested in all as­pects of gar­den­ing, in­clud­ing op­por­tu­ni­ties for fur­ther ed­u­ca­tion in hor­ti­cul­ture, flo­ral and land­scape de­sign, gar­den study and flower show schools. PMMC Of­fer­ing Free Child Care Safety Check: Pottstown Memo­rial Med­i­cal Cen­ter is of­fer­ing free car seat safety checks on the third Fri­day of ev­ery month from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Good­will Am­bu­lance Com­pany, 714 E. High St., Pottstown. Child Cer­ti­fied Pas­sen­ger Safety Tech­ni­cians and trained vol­un­teers will check child car seats for: re­calls and dam­age; best fit for weight, height, and age; and will teach in­stal­la­tion tech­niques. Cel­e­brate Re­cov­ery: The new­est min­istry at Hopewell Com­mu­nity Church, 1130 Com­merce Drive, Pottstown, will “Cel­e­brate Re­cov­ery” through meetings ev­ery Wed­nes­day at 7 p.m. Cel­e­brate Re­cov­ery deals with Hurts, Hang Ups, and yes Habits. It is a twelve step pro­gram, un­like other pro­grams we know who our “higher power” is, the one and only God and it is bib­li­cally based. We will honor Je­sus and Praise Him. All of the stud­ies will em­pha­size for­give­ness and sal­va­tion. The “Eight Prin­ci­ples” are based on the Beat­i­tudes for the pur­pose of lead­ing all who at­tend on the path to­ward re­cov­ery.
