Boyertown edges Perkiomen in slugfest, 19-12

They went to a base­ball game, and bat­ting prac­tice broke out.

When Boyertown vis­ited Perkiomen Post Sun­day, their non-league con­test was nowhere near a pitch­ers’ duel. The teams com­bined for 35 hits and 31 runs, with the Bears com­ing out on top at Up­per Perkiomen, 19-12.

Ev­ery one of Boyertown’s 12 play­ers com­ing to the plate ei­ther hit safely or scored at least once. Five had mul­ti­ple-hit out­ings, and four plated two or three runs in the course of a nine-in­ning affair that saw the Bears erupt for 12 runs in the sixth in­ning to break open what had been a close (6-4 Bears) game to that point.

Sean Sut­terby (3-for-7), Chase Mer­con and Gavin Richards each had three RBI for Boyertown while Broc Babb added another pair. Pat Wie­and had a 3-for-6 day at the plate, and Caleb Har­ri­son (2-for4), Chris Davis and Tate Yergey (each 2-for-5) also swung hot bats.

Perkiomen’s of­fense was headed by Bryan Pi­janowski, who drove in five runs off 4-for-6 hit­ting. Justin Worn­ham (3-for-4, three RBI), Lo­gan Cur­ley (3for-5, two RBI), Ryan Ros­siter (3-for-5), Lance Tem­ple­ton (2-for-3) and Trey Liv­ing­stone (2-for-6) were other key of­fen­sive per­form­ers for the hosts.

Tre Ye­sav­age had 2 hits and 2RBI, and Tre Diguglielmo had two hits and an RBI for Boyertown, Tyler Hoff­man (two RBI) and Ryan Maloney (one RBI) dou­bled as the Bear-Cubs (2-1, 5-2-1) brought the 10run rule into ef­fect.
