Church Pic­nic: Hill Church, 620 Hill Church Road, Boy­er­town, will hold its an­nual Hill Church Pic­nic Satur­day, Aug. 4. Liv­ing His­tory Sun­days: Visit Potts­grove Manor ev­ery Sun­day in Au­gust from 1to 4p.m. to bring his­tory to life with hands-on learn­ing and fun. Dis­cover a dif­fer­ent his­tory trade or skill. Staff and his­toric in­ter­preters in­vite vis­i­tors of all ages to join in the hands-on learn­ing and find out how his­tory is still alive to­day. See if you can stand the heat of the kitchen to help the cook pre­pare dishes over the hearth. Tour the kitchen gar­den to re­al­ize how the plants can be used for food, fla­vor and medicine. Touch and feel the dif­fer­ent kind of tex­tiles peo­ple made and used in the 18th cen­tury, and try your hand at mak­ing a few. Ask the gun­smith or the horn­smith about their pe­riod trades. Spin­ning, tape weav­ing, sewing and more prom­ise to get the whole fam­ily in­volved. Plus, colo­nial toys and games, which run each week, com­plete the 18th cen­tury fun. The Liv­ing His­tory ac­tiv­i­ties will vary week by week, so be sure to check mont­­grove­manor or call 610-326-4014to dis­cover what will be hap­pen­ing. Good Night at the Manor:

Un­cover the evening work and rou­tines of the Potts fam­ily and their house­hold staff with the new ex­hibit Good Night at the Manor, which will run through Sun­day, Nov. 11, at Potts­grove Manor, 100W. Pottstown Area Gar­den Club: meets on the first Fri­day of each month at St. James Lutheran Church, 1101E. Cel­e­brate Re­cov­ery: The new­est min­istry at Hopewell Com­mu­nity Church, 1130Com­merce Drive, Pottstown, will “Cel­e­brate Re­cov­ery” through meet­ings ev­ery Wed­nes­day at 7p.m. Cel­e­brate Re­cov­ery deals with Hurts, Hang Ups, and yes Habits. It is a twelve step pro­gram, un­like other pro­grams we know who our “higher power” is, the one and only God and it is bib­li­cally based. We will honor Je­sus and Praise Him. All of the stud­ies will em­pha­size for­give­ness and sal­va­tion. The “Eight Prin­ci­ples” are based on the Beat­i­tudes for the pur­pose of lead­ing all who at­tend on the path to­ward re­cov­ery.
