Church Picnic: Hill Church, 620 Hill Church Road, Boyertown, will hold its annual Hill Church Picnic Saturday, Aug. 4. Food will be available starting at 3p.m., with sitdown food service available from 3to 7p.m. The Ringgold Band will perform, with music schecduled from 5to 8p.m. The event food will include hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries, soup, ice cream and peaches and ice cream. Living History Sundays: Visit Pottsgrove Manor every Sunday in August from 1to 4p.m. to bring history to life with hands-on learning and fun. Discover a different history trade or skill. Staff and historic interpreters invite visitors of all ages to join in the hands-on learning and find out how history is still alive today. See if you can stand the heat of the kitchen to help the cook prepare dishes over the hearth. Tour the kitchen garden to realize how the plants can be used for food, flavor and medicine. Touch and feel the different kind of textiles people made and used in the 18th century, and try your hand at making a few. Ask the gunsmith or the hornsmith about their period trades. Spinning, tape weaving, sewing and more promise to get the whole family involved. Plus, colonial toys and games, which run each week, complete the 18th century fun. Good Night at the Manor:
Uncover the evening work and routines of the Potts family and their household staff with the new exhibit Good Night at the Manor, which will run through Sunday, Nov. 11, at Pottsgrove Manor, 100W. King St., Pottstown. Tours of the exhibit will be given during regular museum hours. Admission is free, but donations are appreciated. PMMC Offering Free Child Care Safety Check: Pottstown Memorial Medical Center is offering free car seat safety checks on the third Friday of every month from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30p.m. at Goodwill Ambulance Company, 714E. High St., Pottstown. Child Certified Passenger Safety Technicians and trained volunteers will check child car seats for: recalls and damage; best fit for weight, height, and age; and will teach installation techniques. Celebrate Recovery: The newest ministry at Hopewell Community Church, 1130Commerce Drive, Pottstown, will “Celebrate Recovery” through meetings every Wednesday at 7p.m. Celebrate Recovery deals with Hurts, Hang Ups, and yes Habits. It is a twelve step program, unlike other programs we know who our “higher power” is, the one and only God and it is biblically based. We will honor Jesus and Praise Him.
