Leesport native and his band Wood Belly take first at festival
Leesport native Chris Weist and the other members of the bluegrass band Wood Belly won 1st place at the 2018 Telluride Bluegrass Festival in Telluride, Colorado, on June 23.
Winning the top prize in the Telluride Bluegrass Band Competition in front of a crowd of 20,000, the victory landed them a main stage performance slot for the 2019 Telluride Festival. Their album Solid Ground was released Spring 2018 and can be found on Spotify.
Formed in 2015, Wood Belly consists of Chris Zink on dobro, Taylor Shuck on bass, Craig Patterson on guitar, Aaron McCloskey on banjo and Chris Weist on mandolin. The members live in Colorado.
