Local homebrew club hosting area’s first Pennsylvania Dutch Brewers Festival
Local homebrew club Bruclear, along with Berks Homebrew Club and Lancaster Brewers, are putting on the area’s first homebrew festival at the Reading Liederkranz, 143 Spook Lane, Reading, on Saturday, Oct. 20, from 1 to 5 pm.
There will be unlimited pours from 60-plus homebrewed beers, several brewers are regional and national competition winners, along with 10 commercial breweries — Victory, 2SP, Stoudt’s, Troegs, Sly Fox, Nashemany Creek, Stable 12, Frecon Farms, Other Farm and Highway Manor. A Beer Busters podcast will also be recording live from the event.
Tickets include German homecooked food, a tasting glass, live band, fire pit, corn hole and a people’s choice competition. General Admission tickets are $32 for lunch and unlimited tastes of beer, designated driver tickets are $15 and include lunch, and under 21 is free, so it’s a great value.
A fun fact is that the owner of the new brewery in Pottstown, Pottstown United Brewing, is a former member of Bruclear Homebrew Club. Also, a member who will be serving beer at the festival is attending Siebel Institute for brewing and plans to open a brewery in the area in the future.
