Lo­cal home­brew club host­ing area’s first Penn­syl­va­nia Dutch Brew­ers Fes­ti­val

Lo­cal home­brew club Bru­clear, along with Berks Home­brew Club and Lan­caster Brew­ers, are putting on the area’s first home­brew fes­ti­val at the Read­ing Liederkranz, 143 Spook Lane, Read­ing, on Satur­day, Oct. 20, from 1 to 5 pm.

There will be un­lim­ited pours from 60-plus home­brewed beers, sev­eral brew­ers are re­gional and na­tional com­pe­ti­tion win­ners, along with 10 com­mer­cial brew­eries — Vic­tory, 2SP, Stoudt’s, Troegs, Sly Fox, Nashe­many Creek, Sta­ble 12, Fre­con Farms, Other Farm and High­way Manor. A Beer Busters pod­cast will also be record­ing live from the event.

Tick­ets in­clude Ger­man home­cooked food, a tast­ing glass, live band, fire pit, corn hole and a peo­ple’s choice com­pe­ti­tion. Gen­eral Ad­mis­sion tick­ets are $32 for lunch and un­lim­ited tastes of beer, des­ig­nated driver tick­ets are $15 and in­clude lunch, and un­der 21 is free, so it’s a great value.

A fun fact is that the owner of the new brew­ery in Pottstown, Pottstown United Brew­ing, is a for­mer mem­ber of Bru­clear Home­brew Club. Also, a mem­ber who will be serv­ing beer at the fes­ti­val is at­tend­ing Siebel In­sti­tute for brew­ing and plans to open a brew­ery in the area in the fu­ture.
