Two more men are in custody for their involvement in the theft of three vehicles from Corley’s Used Cars.

O’Bryan Williams, 17, and a 16-year-old were arrested over the weekend. Romeo Winston, 17, was arrested last week.

Last Tuesday night, the three men reportedly entered the office at Corley’s Used Cars lot and took several items, including the keys to a Ford Explorer, a Chevrolet Tahoe and a Dodge Durango.

Before stealing cars from the Corley’s, Newton County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Bill Watterson said the suspects broke into a house down the street from the car lot and took a handgun and shotgun from the residence.

“We have recovered everything from both thefts as of 7 p.m. (Monday) night,” Watterson said.

A few days after the crimes, Winston was pulled over in the Explorer for laying drag in Rockdale County. Winston was arrested on the scene. The stolen handgun was recovered in the SUV, Watterson said.

The Tahoe was found abandoned on side of the road a few days later in Covington, Dotty Corley said. The police were going to tow the car but noticed the tag and called the dealership to see if it was missing, she said. A locksmith had to be called in to enter the SUV, Dotty Corley said.

The dealership’s owner, Robbie Corley, said he had had a total of four vehicles stolen from his lot in the three months. In the previous 15 years he had owned the business, he had never had a car taken.

Watterson said the motive seemed to be pretty straightforward.

“They just wanted some cars and guns,” Watterson said. “They just wanted to be cool.”

All three men are charged with felony theft by taking.
