Mr. Bobby M. Shep­herd, 76, of Cov­ing­ton, died July 30 at Kenne­stone Hospi­tal, Ma­ri­etta. The son of the late Jim Paul and Estelle Har­al­son Shep­herd, he was born in Morgan County. Mr. Shep­herd had been a res­i­dent of Cov­ing­ton for 45 years. A for­mer mem­ber of Cov­ing­ton First United Methodist Church, he was a cur­rent mem­ber of Pen­ning­ton United Methodist Church, Madi­son. Mr. Shep­herd was a mem­ber of the Cov­ing­ton Ro­tary Club and BPOE Lodge No. 1806. He was a NASCAR fan. Em­ployed for many years at Cov­ing­ton Ford Mer­cury, he be­came co-owner be­fore re­tir­ing in 1998. He con­tin­ued to work as a con­sul­tant.

Sur­viv­ing are wife Mat­tie M. Shep­herd of Cov­ing­ton; daugh­ters and sons-in-law Vickie S. and W. Grady Bryans of New­born, Kathy S. and Wesley John­son of Cov­ing­ton; son Alan Shep­herd of New­born; grand­chil­dren Brian S. Bryans, Ash­ley Saye Ham­monds, Chrissy J. Hall, Merideth Bryans, Melody Bryans, Michael John­son; great-grand­chil­dren Em­maGrace Bryans, Beau Shep­herd Bryans, Tucker Wal­lace Bryans; one niece; one nephew.

Funeral ser­vices will be held at 2 p.m. Thurs­day, Aug. 2, at Pen­ning­ton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jerry Wolfe and the Rev. Linda Evans of­fi­ci­at­ing. In­ter­ment will fol­low at Pen­ning­ton United Methodist Church Ceme­tery. The fam­ily will re­ceive friends at the funeral home to­day, Aug. 1, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Flow­ers are ac­cept­able or do­na­tions may be made to the New­ton County Hu­mane So­ci­ety, at­ten­tion Betty Bel­lairs, P.O.
