Lo­cal re­tired NFL star to at­tend fam­ily con­fer­ence

Carter speak­ing at ‘Crit­i­cal Hour’

Dale Carter, a re­tired NFL cor­ner­back who played for 13 sea­sons, will be a guest speaker at “The Crit­i­cal Hour” Fam­ily Con­fer­ence at 6 p.m. on Fri­day at the East­side High School Au­di­to­rium.

Led by Se­nior Pas­tor Carl­ton D. Mathis, the con­fer­ence is pri­mar­ily fo­cused on the im­por­tance of sup­port­ing youth and ed­u­ca­tion, and how the com­mu­nity can re­spond to the des­per­ate cry of a wounded gen­er­a­tion.

Carter, a four-time NFL Pro-Bowler, is sched­uled to share his tes­ti­mo­nial dur­ing the ser­vice.

Carter is a for­mer New­ton High School prod­uct, and grad- uated in 1988. He was a Class AAAA first team All-State foot­ball player for the Rams.

Af­ter grad­u­at­ing, Carter played at the Univer­sity of Ten­nessee and was named first team All-Amer­ica as a se­nior. He was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in ‘92 and earned Rookie of the Year hon­ors.

Carter also played for the Den­ver Bron­cos, Min­nesota Vik­ings, New Or­leans Saints and the Bal­ti­more Ravens.

“The Crit­i­cal Hour” is a two-day event, which will in­clude tes­ti­mo­nial ser­vices, praise and wor­ship, break­away ses­sions and an award­win­ning stage play, among other things.
