Local retired NFL star to attend family conference
Carter speaking at ‘Critical Hour’
Dale Carter, a retired NFL cornerback who played for 13 seasons, will be a guest speaker at “The Critical Hour” Family Conference at 6 p.m. on Friday at the Eastside High School Auditorium.
Led by Senior Pastor Carlton D. Mathis, the conference is primarily focused on the importance of supporting youth and education, and how the community can respond to the desperate cry of a wounded generation.
Carter, a four-time NFL Pro-Bowler, is scheduled to share his testimonial during the service.
Carter is a former Newton High School product, and grad- uated in 1988. He was a Class AAAA first team All-State football player for the Rams.
After graduating, Carter played at the University of Tennessee and was named first team All-America as a senior. He was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in ‘92 and earned Rookie of the Year honors.
Carter also played for the Denver Broncos, Minnesota Vikings, New Orleans Saints and the Baltimore Ravens.
“The Critical Hour” is a two-day event, which will include testimonial services, praise and worship, breakaway sessions and an awardwinning stage play, among other things.
