New designs can save homeowners on energy bills

The Covington News - - SHOWCASE OF HOMES -

Consumers nationwide interested in creating an energy- efficient, warm, dry home begin with important decisions related to the products used to construct their basement. While many homes have poured concrete or block foundations, these inefficient basements can leak air and water. A solid alternative is to construct a new home with precast energy- efficient foundation panels.

Made with Energy Starqualified DOW Styrofoam, Superior Walls Xi wall foundation systems are steel reinforced concrete panels that create a permanent barrier against sidewall water penetration in the home. Constructed in a factory- controlled setting and delivered to the job site, Xi precast insulated panels are custom- designed and built to complement any architectural style.

“ The Xi wall is the most advanced wall system available,” says Aaron Schoeneberger of Superior Walls. “ These steel reinforced concrete wall panels are an environmentally- friendly way for people to keep their homes warm and dry. Each panel features 21/ 2 inches of continuous DOW Styrofoam for superior warmth and energy efficiency in the home.

“ Nearly every part of the foundation wall is insulated, including the corners, studs and bond beams. Special engineering makes each wall thermally isolated and insulated from exterior elements, resulting in a superior product for below- ground foundation system installation.”

Energy efficient

Xi wall panels have oneinch foam insulated concrete studs and one- inch foam insulation on the bond beams to help ensure energy efficiency in the home.

The Superior Walls panels always arrive “ damp proof” from the factory and also allow for increasing the amount of insulation without the need for additional framing. The patented wall systems are custom built to a project’s specification in nearly any home style, allowing homeowners to save on energy bills while gaining additional living space in the home.

“ Every homeowner wants a warm, dry, insulated basement that can be converted into additional living space in the home,” says Schoeneberger. “ This foundation system brings peace- of- mind to new homeowners while offering them the opportunity to comfortably maximize their basement living space.”

More than 75,000 Superior Walls foundations have been installed since 1981 nationwide. For more information, call ( 800) 452- 9255 or visit www. superiorwalls. com.
